Using the Baseline
We often need to use more than one font size to create a hierarchy. A widespread mistake is to align everything to be vertically centered for balance. It doesn’t look as bad when they are far apart, but you wil notice the awkward alignment when you bring them closer. The better approach is to align a mixture of font sizes to their baseline, which is the line that letters sit on. This would create a much simpler and cleaner look than what you get when you center two pieces of text and offset the baselines.
